David W. Galehouse

Galehouse, who is now 91, has been active in seed production, soil conservation work and many other farm activities. He has been in the Certified Seed business for 51 years and was one of the first 10 in the State to grow Hybrid Seed Corn. On two different occasions he was President of the Ohio Seed Improvement Association.

A 1901 graduate of the College of Agriculture at Ohio State University, he taught short courses in agronomy for a time and did extension work in agronomy. In 1915 he was appointed Mahoning County Extension Agent-the sixth in the state. Returning to the home farm in 1918, he started the Wayne County Farm

Bureau and was Assistant to the Director on Farmers' Institute work. He was also President of Marshailville Equity, and a Director of the Wayne County Fair Board. For nearly 50 years he was a Farmers' Institute Speaker.
