Suzanne Macino

Sue Macino, Franklin County has devoted 57 years to public service within the agricultural community. She began her career in 1927 at the Ohio State University in the State 4-H Office. For 22 years she performed all responsibilities beyond expectations. As has been her trademark, she showed great respect for her early supervisors. In 1949,  she transferred to the Ohio Department of Agriculture. During the next 35 years she served as the eyes and ears for ten Directors of Agriculture prior to retirement in 1983. In the capacity as the Director's secretary, she quietly and proficiently functioned to assure the very best image for the Director, for the Department, and the agricultural community. She has received numerous awards including the USDA's Distinguished Service Award, the first woman to receive this honor.
