James M. Lewis

James Lewis, Pickaway County, has contributed to the betterment of Ohio's, the nation's, and the world's agriculture community for over 45 years. Jim has devoted most of his career to the dairy industry. His carefully managed breeding programs along with those of Ohio's dairy breeding cooperatives have helped to set the standards for feed and production efficiency. As an exporter of quality breeding stock, Jim's expertise has been felt in many countries. His  contributions to dairy judging have helped establish new guidelines by which dairy cattle are judged throughout the United States.

During his career, he has continually shown great interest in involving youth in the dairy industry. He has worked with 4-H and FFA members in perfecting their judging techniques. As an exhibitor at the Ohio State Fair, he has received hundreds of awards during his 50 plus years of showing dairy cattle. He has had great influence in agricultural financing as well as availability of insurance for the agricultural industry. He has held several state and national organizational positions, including being a 32 year board member of the National Cooperative Business Association.
