OAC Sets 2015 Dates

2015 planning is underway for the Ohio Agricultural Council, which will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Ohio Agricultural Hall of Fame inductions this year. 2015 memberships are now being accepted to the statewide farm and allied industry organization, and dates have been set for the group's 2015 meetings.

"2015 is an important year for our organization," said OAC President Jenny Hubble. "We have several exciting member events planned, with compelling speakers and the opportunity for our members to network with others in Ohio's agriculture community. In addition, OAC is thrilled to mark the 50th anniversary of the Hall of Fame, which has honored Ohio leaders and pioneers in our industry for a half-century."  Nominations for the Hall of Fame are now open and available by clicking here. Nominee applications must be submitted no later than March 31.

The Hall of Fame ceremony will be Friday, August 7, 2015. To mark the likely increased interest in and attendance for the 50th anniversary event, the induction ceremony and breakfast will relocate from the Rhodes Center on the grounds of the Ohio State Fair to the Celeste Center.

OAC members receive both benefits and networking opportunities with others in agriculture. Those interested in joining OAC in 2015 can do so by visiting by clicking here. Dues vary and are available for organizations and individuals. Members receive advance notice of OAC events, including regular meetings with guest speakers, after-work "mixers," and the Hall of Fame celebration.

Meeting speakers for 2015 are expected to address such current topics as hunger, sustainability and food industry trends.  The spring meeting will be Wednesday, April 29, 2015, and the fall meeting will be Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015. Locations and speakers will be announced at a later date and will be posted online, and OAC members will receive meeting notices via email.

As part of the OAC mission to encourage agriculture education and to build future agricultural leaders, the organization again will award up to six scholarships to Ohio high school and college students. Scholarship applications are available by clicking here, and the application submission deadline is Feb. 27, 2015.  The OAC Board increased the amount of each annual scholarship by one-third to $1,500.

"There has never been a better time to join the nearly 200 members of the Ohio Agricultural Council as we embark on what will be a year filled with interesting conversations, celebratory gatherings in new places and leadership opportunities," said Hubble.
